There is no place from which one could say
why something has definitively held —
and yet some courses are read
as world, life, and consciousness.
What holds
does not have to be wholly distinguishable.
And what we distinguish
is only what
has managed to be read as a whole.
Nula is not a point.
It is not a number between two values.
It is that
no pattern can be definitive.
What manages to be read as a whole
is not necessary.
What is not distinguished in this way
loses nothing.
Between them
there is nothing
that could be added.
Life is not a thing.
It is a way
we read certain types
of unbroken courses.
Evolution is not a plan.
It is that
the course does not stop
even when its pattern changes.
“Arising” is not a point.
It is a boundary
we have drawn into continuity.
Readability is local.
Holding is not.
What holds
does not have to be shared.
And what we share
is only where
the overlap has held.
Dark matter
is only a name
for this mismatch.
Consciousness is not a bearer.
It is a case
where holding appears as a whole.
The whole is not given.
It is only that
somewhere
it has not broken.
